Protecting the Public
The main priority of Greater Manchester Probation Trust is to protect the public.
We work alongside Greater Manchester Police and HM Prison Service under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (known as MAPPA) to manage high risk sexual or violent offenders. The agencies carry out a thorough assessment of the risk an offender poses and then prepare and implement plans to minimise this risk.
The MAPPA process is supported by a range of other agencies, who have a duty to co-operate, including local authority housing, education and social services, the health service and job centres.
The Greater Manchester MAPPA Annual Report 2009 - 2010 is available on the Greater Manchester Police website at: http://www.gmp.police.uk/mainsite/pages/176E0CDA151E5F09802577850050419E
